Daniel and Anna rented the spacious, remote and scenic house on Edisto Island and the rest of the family descended to spend a few days taking it easy. Maria and Ben made their way from Orangeburg while Mason, Mason Jr. and Marsha came from Charleston. Paul, Kathy, Sarah and John drove from Rochester, NY.

On a tip of land, the site of the house was remote. The house itself however, certainly didn't lack any amenities. Three bedrooms, one bathroom and a large game room made up the bottom floor.

The top floor boasted, in addition to an expansive view, a sleek kitchen, bunk beds for the kids, two bedrooms and a master bedroom complete with jacuzzi. A large living area with cable TV was enjoyed by all.

Screened porches surrounded the outside. A balcony on top of the house provided additional access to breaktaking views of the marsh and the stars at night. John and Sarah had never seen so many stars.

Swimming was enjoyed by many. Mason got crazy and started a whole string of incidents. He encouraged his nephew and niece to climb a tree and jump in the water. Intoxicated by the air, they did it.

Everyone was mindful of the tide and enjoyed swinging into the water on a rope. Mason took the crazy award, though, no question.

Boat rides were also a source of diversion. Down the creek, osprey nests were to be found as well as other wildlife. Everyone nicely acknoledged the prescence of the boat, cheerfully waving.

In addition to the fabulous house, a playground had been built outside. The kids and several adults enjoyed the tree house, rope bridge, swings and swinging rope.

The island itself was beautiful for walking and riding bikes. The ride off the island was unique, as the small stores, barbeque restaurants and mobile homes appeared untouched by tourism or much contact from the outside world. The whole experience was deeply relaxing and satisfying.

After Edisto, the family progressed to Charleston to stay for a few more days together. Once there, they visited with incoming guests Paul and Mary, from Hendersonville. Some enjoyed shopping and all relished the excellent food from the restaurants.
