Ben Wetenhall was honored as the 2000 Citizen of the Year for Orangeburg, South Carolina in a ceremony on September 14. The award is a collaboration among the community's service clubs. The Kiwanis Club hosts the gala dinner event at the Orangeburg Country Club.
This year's speech and presentation was made by Mayor Martin Cheatham. Ben and Maria's entire immediate family were surprise guests at the dinner. Their three children, spouses, six grandchildren, plus Maria's only brother and his wife were all present. Click here to see a video. |
