All six Wetenhall grand children started school this fall.

Mason Jr., son of Marsha and Mason, entered pre-kindergarten. Masie's first loves are firemen and trains. However, now he's really starting to enjoy Legos and he really likes all sports - baseball, lacrosse, soccer, football, basketball. He also loves to scooter and ride his very big bike. He really enjoys music and singing.

Now that he naps for 45 minutes at school, his bedtime is 11:00 to 11:30; he has a lot of energy and lots of ability to stay up late and wake fairly early (7:30, even on weekends). He also really likes playing with Grande Mere from 5:30 to 6:30 on school days. She's wonderful about playing all of these little boy games that he invents.

Going to Orangeburg to see Baba and Poppie is always a treat for Masie. He looks forward to Lincoln Logs when he's there and also really likes doing the speech software with Poppie.

Masie has already lost two teeth and will be five in two days. He's lobbying for a puppy or a cat. We're thinking along the lines of football helmut.

Sarah Wetenhall is the oldest child of Paul Wetenhall and Kathy Pearce. She has just started high school in the ninth grade. She has a busy schedule and enjoys all her courses. She is particularly enjoying the political discussions in social studies. Last year, Sarah went to New York with her Spanish class and she continues in advanced Spanish this year. Sarah enjoys computers very much. She has taught herself web design, brochure production, movie editing, and just about anything she needs to figure out. Sarah and her brother founded Neighborhood TV and have made several music videos, cooking shows, and interviews. Sarah often helps others with their computer problems and graphic output needs.

Sarah is also an athlete. She is the goalie for her lacrosse team and this fall also joined the Brighton tennis team and is off to a promising start. Sarah also found time to earn her Silver Award, the second highest award in Girl Scouts. In the area of music, Sarah was in two bands, a concert band and a jazz band, where she is a key part of the trumpet section.

At home when not on her computer, Sarah is an accomplished cook and an avid reader of the New York Times magazine and Time Magazine.

John Wetenhall is the second child of Paul Wetenhall and Kathy Pearce. He is in the 7th grade in middle school. He does well in all his courses and particularly likes math, where he got a cool graphing calculator that he and his friends have now loaded with games. John is taking science, algebra, English, French, phys ed, health, social studies, band, and extended studies program. John is doing very well with his French horn and will be playing in the all county band. This year his class will visit Washington, DC.

John is very computer savvy. He has helped others solve their computer problems and has an extensive buddy list for Instant Messenger. He loves finding new songs on the Internet and likes a wide range of music, including the Grateful Dead, techno, Bono, Fur Elise, and on and on. He recently starred as the disk jockey in the music video “Better Off Alone,” produced by NTV.

John has been active in lacrosse, is developing a nice tennis game, and is on the school cross-country team. He has earned his First and Second Class in boy scouts, has survived a lot of rain on camping trips and has even slept in an igloo when it was –10 degrees outside.

John likes to scooter, make hemp bracelets, read books, and play with tech decks in his spare time.
